So I was going to start this off with a big sappy post about how much all of my friends and family mean to me (a lot) and how much I love all of you (I really do), but I’m way to freakin’ excited. I will save that one for when I get really home sick. Also Travel Monkey already called me a big baby after my teary-eyed goodbye to Jeannie Murray (hi mur mur!)
Also most of my favorite memories with you fools is of laughing….a lot. And since I am so freaking hi-larious (hi watts!) and you people like laughing at my shenanigans (stop shaking your head zach!) Well….here we are.
So the first flight almost didn’t happen. Apparently it’s not cool to have a ticket to go to another country for 6 months without a visa. Who knew? Luckily the desk agent was in a good mood. After explaining everything and showing them my contract (see it is good for something after all!), they decided to let me try my luck in Chicago.
Mom held it together pretty damn well considering both of her children were leaving town this morning to work far away for a long time. (me=China Stevie=San Diego) So, big round of applause for mom!
So far Travel Monkey and I are having fun (we are easily entertained by people). The flight into Chi-Town was decent. He even got his own seat!
He was all jazzed about this until he realized the crazy lady next to him (not me! other side) likes to put a blanket over her head and hide from the boogey man of take off and landing. It’s okay though, I distracted him with the view from my seat.
I also reminded him that we were going to Hong Kong, a tiny island where we were bound to see much crazier folks very soon.
We had a good chuckle about this over a cup of O.J. (Travel Monkey was all, “don’t you think 8am is a little early for a cocktail?”) We landed peacefully in Chicago to very chilly but sunny skies.
Will post more as soon as my camera and my phone stop acting like little bitches.
Go Veronica! Safe, happy travel wishes to you!
